Poker Table Plans

Ever considered building your own poker table? Most of us just think about buying a poker table; but if you’re a woodworker and a poker player, you may get a great deal of pleasure out of creating your own custom, hand built poker table. You can find poker table plans in books, stores and on the internet, so there are lots of options for poker table designs.

Many people have built poker tables, so there are hundreds of plans available. In fact, it’s quite easy to find free poker table plans, so that you don’t even have to pay to determine the design of your poker table.

There are also great books that list a variety of poker table designs and provide precise plans for building each one. The book will cost you a bit, but you’ll be able to browse through many designs quickly before you choose the right one for you.

Once you’ve settled on your design, you’ll need to choose your materials. There are many beautiful poker tables made from solid hardwood, but many are also made with metal folding legs to make storage easier. First, choose the size table you’d like to build. If you’re going to take the time to build a table, you should probably make one that will seat at least eight people. If space in your home is a problem, simply make a folding table that’s easy to store.

In general, you’ll need plywood for the base of the table top and some sort of materials for legs. Then you’ll need to build a rail around the perimeter of the table and fill it with padding. The top will be covered with felt, and you’ll need to decide if you want plain felt or want to go all out and have felt custom printed. This option is more expensive, and it takes a bit longer to get the felt delivered, but certainly gives your table a custom look.

If you’re a craftsman, this is the project for you. Building a poker table is not all that difficult if you’re good with your hands and enjoy custom design. You’ll have the opportunity to impress all your friends with your workmanship and design savvy. Nothing could be more enjoyable than a night of poker with your buddies, played on a table you made with your own hands.
